The violet trail is a great for a hike in the springtime. This trail starts in the back end of the Sleeping Giant State Park parking lot and snakes all the way around the back of the mountain. The very beginning of the trail is probably the most beautiful in the Spring. It takes you right by a flowing river. The water is highest at this point in the year and there are many spots to sit and relax on its banks. The trail continues on past the head of the Sleeping Giant and down a wide crushed gravel path. From here the trail winds easily around the mountain up to the Chestnut Lane trailhead. |
